Today's episode feels a little selfish, because I wanted to record my parents and share a little bit of their story, in their own words.

First up is mom, with her signature mix of wisdom and wonderfully random stories.

Then, the heart of the episode: a longer, more emotional conversation with my dad, who turns 80 this year. He opens up about moving from Puerto Rico to the United States, the moment he met my mom (yes, he teared up retelling it), and the simple yet profound advice he's gathered for building a strong marriage and a long, happy life (¡it includes parrandas!).

This show celebrates famous Boricuas and big moments, but it's also about honoring the quiet, courageous lives of everyday Puerto Ricans. My parents are humble and grateful, and I wish to preserve their voices for our family and for anyone who needs a reminder of what's possible through resilience and love.
